Although initially resistant to venture into the food service sector, the persistence and harassment of this one customer gave way to a trial production of 700 kg of washed and bagged product aimed at the restaurant trade. That trial production sold out in 2 hours. The company is owned and managed by Troy Cukrov (4th generation) and Danny Cukrov (3rd generation). Troy brings a new level of expertise to the operation. Although having grown up and worked on the family farm, Troy chose to study horticultural science at the University of Western Australia, with particular emphasis on crop production. His Honours thesis looked at herbicide use and phytoxicity in commercial crops. In 2003, Troy commenced his doctor of philosophy (PhD) at University of Western Australia, looking at sclerotinia management in commercial lettuce crops. Danny Cukrov has over 35 years of experience growing vegetables and, by reputation, has always been regarded as one of Western Australia’s best growers. This mix of science and proven experience gives us the best of both worlds. |
