Supafresh Baby Leaves was created primarily as a result of one persistent wholesaler’s continual requests to do business with the parent company, Trodan Produce. Trodan is Western Australia’s largest grower of gourmet lettuce and baby leaf for fresh cut, supermarket retail packs. Operating out of 2 farms and growing up to 25 raw product lines, Trodan supplied local processors who turned these raw ingredients into retail packs, ultimately for supermarket shelves.

Although initially resistant to venture into the food service sector, the persistence and harassment of this one customer gave way to a trial production of 700 kg of washed and bagged product aimed at the restaurant trade. That trial production sold out in 2 hours.

Supafresh Baby Leaves and Trodan Produce are a 4th generation family owned and operated company based in Baldivis in Western Australia. The success of these operations is proof that hard work, high standards, attention to detail and highly valued customer relationships are the key requirements for modern day farming.

The company is owned and managed by Troy Cukrov (4th generation) and Danny Cukrov (3rd generation). Troy brings a new level of expertise to the operation. Although having grown up and worked on the family farm, Troy chose to study horticultural science at the University of Western Australia, with particular emphasis on crop production. His Honours thesis looked at herbicide use and phytoxicity in commercial crops. In 2003, Troy commenced his doctor of philosophy (PhD) at University of Western Australia, looking at sclerotinia management in commercial lettuce crops. Danny Cukrov has over 35 years of experience growing vegetables and, by reputation, has always been regarded as one of Western Australia’s best growers. This mix of science and proven experience gives us the best of both worlds.
